My 2nd graders are amazing! We are having a wonderful year so far. They love coming to school and are eager to learn every day! They need exposure to all kinds of technology so to supplement the iPads that we use we need Android devices. It is important that they are not limited to one kind of device because throughout school and life they will need the knowledge to use a variety of devices. My students are from an inner city area where they do not have access to a variety of things they need to be successful. The Android devices will be used to complete classwork on websites we use for learning reading, math, science and social studies. We use eSpark Reading and Math daily and it has helped my students go up on their required tests for both the district and the state. We are also asking for iPad chargers because once I send the iPads home for inclement weather/remote learning they rarely come back. If I don't have a class set of chargers the devices can't be used. We also use the iPads for apps like Epic Reading. Epic provides the students with a large variety of books that are read aloud or can be read independently. It also provides them with videos that teach them about a variety of interesting topics. Freckle is another program that is used on the iPad. It gives the children a math pretest and then provides them with a learning path to build their knowledge from where they are starting.
