This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember the first time you used a computer or a tablet and how it changed your prospective on learning? Can you recall the first time you used it to do research or learned something new? I want to enlighten and give my 4th grade students that opportunity.
My students live in the inner-city.
They are English Language Learners. They all qualify for federal free lunches. They come to school not just to learn but also to feel safe and loved. They look up to their teachers and appreciate school. They live with very little and have many struggles at such a young age. Yet, they aspire to be the best students, citizens, and friends they can be. They live in a rough environment filled with gangs and poverty. They are struggling to meet grade level reading status.
My Project
My students would greatly benefit from having a Samsung Galaxy Tablet in class. A Samsung Galaxy Tablet can provide endless opportunities for students not only with the introduction of technology but also with providing multiple ways of learning. Not all students can learn from listening, many are visual learners, while others need a hands on approach. Having a Samsung Galaxy Tablet will benefit students by allowing them to use different apps that will target skills needed to become proficient readers. Having an Samsung Galaxy Tablet will motivate students to become better readers and inspire them to reach their goals. They will have access daily to targeted reading skills such as monitoring for comprehension, cause and effect, and even reading fluency. They will also use the tablet to track their progress which will help keep them motivated.
