My Students
I teach at a school in Brooklyn, New York. Many of our students are native Brooklynites and some hail from different states and countries. They come from a wide variety of backgrounds and bring with them unique strengths and experiences. The students in my class are thoughtful and enthusiastic learners. They come to school everyday prepared for challenges and they strive to be their best selves. They are kind and deeply care for their school community. They like to have fun, to be engaged, to have their voices heard and to share their opinions. They like to be challenged and to feel supported. They inspire me everyday.
My Project
I am a special education teacher in an integrated, co-teaching classroom. This means I teach alongside a general education teacher, so we have to be very creative when designing our physical classroom space! When you teach with a co-teacher, you are often teaching two groups at the same time. It is my goal to create a physical space that can enhance learning and where students will feel motivated. A kidney table will help me achieve this goal. Having a designated table for small group instruction will allow me to attend to student needs in a more efficient way and provide the individualized support they need to be successful. My co-teacher and I can also use this area to conference with students. Please help me buy a kidney table and chairs so that I can better support my students!
