A Sweet Ending

Help me give my students well deserved sweet treats to celebrate finishing a great book during this pandemic!

My Students

My classroom is self-contained, and I teach in an urban area. Reading is very important, and I want to highlight the importance of it this year with this group of students. I do know that I will have a variety of students on different levels. I have a group of students that come from different backgrounds.

My Project

We've spent the past 3 months reading an amazing book. My students fell in love with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. While reading the book , students were introduced to the different types of candies invented by Mr. Willy Wonka. This book was centered around a whole STEAM UNIT for my students. Now that we are almost done reading the book. I would like for my students to watch the movie. We will watch the movie to compare and contrast with the book and to also see the book come to life.

Due to COVID , my students cannot experience making candy in the classroom.

I would like to package a treat bag for each student to take home , to enjoy the magical candies by Mr. Willy Wonka.

Originally , I wanted them to experience making candy in the classroom. After making the candy , the students could eat their candy while watching the movie. Due to covid , the students cannot have that experience. So why not package a bag of goodies for my students to take home to eat after watching the movie? I'm very proud of my students! This is the SECOND chapter book that we have finished as a class this school year. I can truly say that my kids enjoy reading!
