A STRONG FOUNDATION FOR READING IS FUNDAMENTAL!!!!!
I need professional training in the LETRS program to master the fundamentals of reading instruction. This is key so that my students build strong and solid literacy foundation to become lifelong readers and learners.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students have a love for learning. Their families are the dedicated, loving and hardworking and do their best to help their children succeed in school. Most families are immigrants to the country and my students are second language learners. The parents are working hard to support their families and sometimes need extra support and help from the schools and their teachers.
My Project
TEACHERS MATTER! The most important factor in student success is the teacher. LETRS® (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) for K–5 educators is an investment in their literacy knowledge and professional practice. Teachers gain essential skills to master the fundamentals of literacy instruction to apply and transform student learning.
LETRS gives teachers the skills they need to master how to teach the five essential components of literacy, (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension) plus writing, spelling, and oral language.
Teachers also learn how to implement instructional routines and activities. It is key to have strategies to differentiate instruction to meet the literacy needs of all students. We must build bridges from practice and activities that ensure students can transfer what they learn in LETRS to the classroom.
