My Project
Eighth-grade students will read the book Night because it provides a powerful and personal account of one of history’s darkest periods—the Holocaust. Through Elie Wiesel’s firsthand experiences, students gain a deeper understanding of the horrors and consequences of prejudice, hatred, and intolerance. Reading Night helps young readers develop empathy and awareness about the importance of standing up against injustice and recognizing the impact of discrimination on individuals and communities. It also encourages critical thinking about history, ethics, and human rights.
Night teaches students valuable lessons about resilience, hope, and the strength of the human spirit even in the face of unimaginable suffering.
It challenges them to reflect on the importance of remembering history so that such atrocities are never repeated. By engaging with this book, eighth graders learn to appreciate the significance of tolerance, compassion, and the need to protect the dignity of all people. Ultimately, Night serves as a profound educational tool that fosters emotional growth and moral responsibility.
