This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I serve Gifted and Talented students in a highly diverse, low-income district. The students come from many different backgrounds and a majority of our students speak a second language. Our students come from supportive families who want the best for their kids but often do not have the resources they need to assist them. These students are focused and excited to learn.

Gifted students are tomorrow's leaders, inventors, problem-solvers and creators!

Providing them with opportunities to think critically and collaborate is essential for their success while providing them more opportunities to be more college and career ready!

My Project

Our classroom is a MAKER classroom which means regardless of what class kids are in, they are inventing, designing, and making prototypes that solve problems or can be sold in our class store. My student manage this STEM/ MAKER store and choose which supplies they should invest in for their future projects.

Its really amazing to see what 11-12 year-olds can do when they are given the supplies, resources and opportunities to work on things they are passionate about.

The TPT gift card with help with curriculum that supports the economics of running the school store, along with STEM lesson plans that support our Cricut designs, 3d printing challenges, and Resin business. The coin batteries and conductive thread will help students make wearable art that is electronic! The Resin, heat transferred vinyl, and paint so that students can create resin objects, design t-shirt designs, and paint artistic canvas creations that they will market and sell to students at our school. These objects get added to our classroom store. The Pegboard wall and supplies will help us organize those objects for students who enter our classroom. We currently have all of our creations on a rolling cart, but could really benefit by separating our keychains, masks, canvas, etc. into a wall display (which will also make the products more visually pleasing as well as open up space in our classroom for instruction and learning). Students will use the notebooks for artistic reflections and the breakout curriculum will allow students to create breakout puzzles for their classmates. They will utilize art, technology, content specific standards, and critical thinking to extend the classroom curriculum for their peers. These supplies will allow my students to engage in artistic STEM lessons and design new products while they learn more about Economics.
