We love to think big and our goal is to reach and inspire students through performance, community and school service projects, and creating points of pride through our chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society with our officers leading this project: Zach, Genna, Helena, Alexy, Nathan, Jakey and Vinh.
I presented Zach, Genna, Helena, Alexy, Nathan, Jakey and Vinh with the opportunity to start this project for a new keyboard stand and their response was nothing less than enthusiastic and passionate! They took time out of their school lunch to brainstorm and work together to write their essays and really created the positive momentum they needed to complete this project. They are all very aware of the problem the bad keyboard stand created for us last year, and really believe this is something our band needs to continue growing and succeeding. They are such caring students, I am proud to work with them and see them grow every day!
Our chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society strives to teach our members to be great leaders in all facets of their lives from music class to sports to Model UN to their daily social lives. Being a good leader will help students succeed in whatever career path they choose in the future. We are always looking for opportunities for students to take on leadership roles such as organizing fundraisers, concerts and events, being mentors to younger instrumentalists and so much more. These students took the time out of their lunch and homework time to work together to identify a need in their classroom. They were then able to write these persuasive essays and think deeply about reaching out to donors for a cause they believe in. That is a skill that they will serve them in life over and over again.
In Their Own Words
Our band desperately needs this Yamaha Professional Keyboard Stand LG-800! The reason we need a new piano stand is because the one we used last year was unsuitable, unstable and dangerous for the player. Currently, we are using a table/desk that is at the incorrect height for proper posture while playing. We are an inner city school, one of many in our district, and we lack the funding we need to purchase such an item. We strongly encourage you to donate to this project!
As officers of our chapter's Tri-M Music Honor Society, we have run many fundraisers in the past, such as bake sales and raffles, and we are very excited that this opportunity has arisen for us to use DonorsChoose.org! In the past, we have worked very hard to advertise our fundraisers and saw great success. We are ready to spread the word about our DonorsChoose.org project using every platform available to us!
Receiving a quality keyboard stand would benefit us and our community because it supports a crucial instrument in our ensembles' concerts and events. In the past, the keyboard has fallen off its inadequate stand damaging both the instrument and student it's fallen on, and we are afraid it could be destroyed if it happens again. Please consider our request for this keyboard stand as we need it for our future concerts and the safety of our students.
