My Project

This year my students and I have been working with the little spot of feeling written by Diane Alber. My students have come to love the books even though we don't have all the books yet. Social Emotional Learning is so important to our students' growth and development as is physical fitness and learning about sportsmanship and team sports in the form of softball.

By adding these Spot books, plush dolls, and plush spots we will build a social emotional classroom library that has supportive resources that will help our students reach their social emotional goals and by adding the exercise equipment we can work on gaining physical fitness and applying it to the sport of softball.

Reading these books will allow my students to be able to have that hands on experience necessary to learning. My hope is that with this project we will have all of the books, plush spots, and puppets for my students to be able to interact with each of these stories. The added resource of labels and laminating sheets will help keep their social emotional tools organized and reusable, and the sensory tools will help students who need further help in regulating their emotions. The exercise and softball equipment in the form of steps and bands and a bat will allow the students to develop physical fitness as a form of expression and release for their emotions. Using the bat will teach them confidence in hitting off of a tee that we already have. Please support social emotional and physical growth in the form of sports and sportsmanship in my classroom.
