My Project

In our class, we focus on being able to truly acknowledge what we are feeling and handling it in the most appropriate way possible. There aren't too many things that are within our control... but self should be the biggest one of all... regardless of the situation. Under every behavior is a reason... The focus of this project will be to help lay the groundwork for our students to identify that.

Each book in The Spot series is designed to identify and deal with a range of emotions.

Whether independently, small group directed, teacher instructed, or restorative circles focused, the ability to identify, establish a plan, and be able to share solutions in a variety of ways are the real intentions of every goal ever BIP created. All of which our kids use to be able to build foundations of success in the working through and appropriately handle their variety of disabilities.

Being able to furnish our classroom with this entire support system, especially for some of our most afraid to talk or share with others students, will help them to label what they are feeling in order to be able to move to the point of growing towards a solution with others. Through our interchangeable curriculum of various social skills stations, reorientation discussions, de-escalation techniques, and managing self-enforced behavior contracts, our students with the most struggles, will have an opportunity to scaffold the skills necessary to be able to communicate their own ways to help themselves better establish the specific direction to help us help them.

What makes our students so special, is their ability to bring their trusting innocence into a "clean slate mentality" type program that'll 'show up and show out' daily in ways for them to feel supported. We aren't called the BEST Program for nothing...
