it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My job is to teach young citizens to be bilingual/biliterate.
The school I work in is a BISO, (Bilingual School Organization), where 60% of the day is taught in English and 40% in Spanish.
My class consists of 37 kindergarten students. I have eighteen in the morning and nineteen in the afternoon, ranging from 5 to 6 years of age. Our school is a Title I school. Eighty percent of our students are on free or reduced lunch and come from low socio-economic families. The majority of our students are English Language Learners (ELL) whose parents have migrated to the USA from around the world. Technology is a luxury, therefore most parents can’t afford to have it in their homes. This is why it is important to expose them to as much technology as possible in my classroom.
Our mission statement is to "bilingually foster student
achievement with respect for historical, cultural, and individual diversities with an emphasis on the preservation of our environment and an appreciation for the arts."
My Project
"Great Teachers Build Bright Futures" is our school-wide theme. As an educator being able to touch young lives to better their future is what I strive for every day. Teaching my little ones that with the use of creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking we can all build brighter futures. My students are very interested and motivated by all types of technology. Consequently, we aim to do our utmost efforts to achieve the maximum success of learning with the use of technologies we have today.
We are all familiar with the phrase “Sometimes all you need is a splash of color”.
That being said, is what I want to incorporate in my class with the use of a color printer.
My students do very well with the use of visuals throughout the day. The insight they would gain from learning the English language with the use of this technology and visual aids would be endless. The printer will be used to print instructional materials, positive reinforcement posters, and visual aids lessons. The colorful illustrations are a great way to capture their attention and enable them to have a better understanding of the lessons.
Differentiation is a vital form of instruction used in teaching.
With a printer in my classroom, I will be able to print out resources and create differentiated materials to meet the needs of all my learners.
My students have their own individual needs. By having a color printer in our class my student’s communication, reading, and mathematics skills, would be much more enhanced thus helping them skyrocket to new heights of thinking, interacting, and creating.
By supporting this project you would empower my little ones to further their education and allow them to explore and engage in our emerging world with technology.
