Help me give my students colorful center activities and materials! Having a color printer available in my classroom will allow me to bring to life and add colorful to self-created center activities, name tags, pictures, etc.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My class is composed of 22 young minds who possess such incredible eagerness and excitement for learning. My students come from low socio-economical backgrounds and have limited English language proficiency. Their background knowledge, thus, is often limited as they have not had meaningful learning experiences of the world around them. Thus, they are often curious and amazed by the simplest of things, such as using a magnifying glass to observe ladybugs in a clear container.
Their knowledge-hungry minds demand a classroom environment where curiosity, creativity, and self-expression are the ground rules, and where failure is expected as a step towards achieving goals.
These lovely 4-year-old children are simply not afraid of making mistakes, for we have become accustomed to celebrating "failures," as failures or mistakes indicate they have learned and are ready to move on towards success- whatever the task may be.
My Project
Printing center activities and materials in color that support our students' learning would benefit our class as children are instantly attracted to colorful scenes.
Adding color to a simple rhyming matching activity or to a dull 10 frame, automatically engages children's attention as they react to color with excitement.
In my school, we lack much of the resources we need to make our teaching and planning a little easier. All teachers in my school have access to just one printer in the building which prints in black and white. As a Pre-K teacher, I often find myself drawing and coloring but I just wish I had the time to draw and color every single thing I want to present to my students.
My class would benefit immensely and I would be very grateful for providing me access to some tools that will allow our creation of materials to last.
