Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students attend a public elementary Title I school with approximately 400 students. The student population consists of 24% are African American, 42% Latino/Mexican, 12% White and 1% Asian. 75% are economically disadvantaged and 34% are students with disabilities. Many are from foster and single-parent families.
I envision a bright future for them.
They are full of genius and full of energy. I see great potential in our students, that many will be future leaders and narrative makers.
My Project
Our entire school has a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) approach to encouraging positive behavior that will improve school climate and academic achievement. Students are encouraged through rewards, incentives and verbal acknowledgement. They receive SPARK tickets when they are staying on task, exceeding expectations, and through acts of kindness. With this project, we are hoping to build the school store into something that the students are motivated to shop at.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve our student's SEL needs but you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement and overall school climate.
