A Space to Reflect & Rejuvenate: Calm & Comfy Corner

Help me give my students a calm & cozy corner where they can pause, reflect, restore, and rejuvenate their spirits.

My Project

The school day can be stressful, both for students and teachers. Amidst the politicization of education, standardization & over-testing, fear of school shootings, and other factors that can grind down the spirit, it’s important to make space for rejuvenation.

This SEL-focused project is to fund a corner in my classroom where students can take a moment to decompress, collect their thoughts, reflect on their day, and restore their spirit.

My vision: the space will offer comfortable seating (with cushions for the floor — a nice change of pace from a rigid desk!), a tea stand, with a variety of tea flavors and some mugs, and plenty of coloring books. There will also be a diffuser with essential oils to help spread calm. Students can keep their mugs and coloring books on the bookshelf, and I will have two tables covered with table clothes for a snack space.

We all need a little retreat in our lives!
