This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Some of my students have never been to school and kindergarten is their first experience of being in a classroom. One of the favorite places in my classroom is the library. Students get to look at books, explore books they enjoy, and have conversations about books with other students. Reading can improve student’s confidence and encourage them to read more often.
I want to create an inviting reading corner by having different options of seating whether it is a pillow or a floor chair.
Reading corners increase children's access to books and create an encouraging and inviting atmosphere for students to have even more opportunities to read together during their daily routines.
A quiet and private area can also give students who are nervous to read around others the confidence to read alone in a cozy dedicated reading area. The reading corner can be a great place for children to discover their favorite books and genres.
