My Students

My students are thoughtful, inquisitive and risk takers. My students trust the work they are challenged with every time they step into my English Language Arts classroom. More importantly, they trust me to take them on a journey through the year that pushes them to not only become better students but to truly discover who they are and what is important to them as thinkers and humans.

All students have the capacity for greatness and our learning together is one more step on the road to discovering how amazing and brilliant they are.

My students come from all over the area to attend our school. As a teacher of high school seniors, I am able to support and help develop the skills of our kids as they take on the rigorous English curriculum each year. I know my students are ready for the next steps of their journey when they graduate!

My Project

One of the best parts of Senior English is that we focus on different genres of creative writing. Students will have experience creating everything from poems and spoken word, to plays, and in November students will become novelists!

I have found that journals provide a blank slate for students, space for them to brainstorm, doodle, create, and jot down ideas.

These journals are blank and can be decorated with an assortment of pens to write and doodle with, to reflect the individuality of the student. At the beginning of each class, students will use their journals and engage in an initial thinking about the content for the day.

In addition to class work, my students will be able to take their journals with them into local parks to observe their surroundings, to write when the mood strikes them, or even as they travel to o and from school!
