My Students
My students are an at risk group of 1st graders whom unfortunately missed part of their very important classroom experience the prior year due to Covid 19. Although the students have had many obstacles of learning, they continue to prove everyday to be resilient and determined! The students learn very fast and are soaking up knowledge daily like a sponge!
Someone once said, "The quality of physical learning environment goes hand and hand with academic performance".
Our class is self contained and the students are with me the majority of the day. The students are learning to read and write. They are very curious and eager to learn. The majority of the class like to draw and play outside.
My Project
I have first graders and lunch is usually around 10:30 - 11:00am. Towards the end of the school day the students are usually hungry and are in need of a snack to get them through the remainder of the day. Some students bring their own snack however the majority do not. I would love to be able to step in and provide snacks to all.
In addition, most first graders do not write well, and I want to ensure they have the option to write or draw their thoughts.
It is also equally important we have supplies to do crafts and other DIY projects for when brain breaks are needed.
