Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach in a self-contained third grade classroom. What on earth does "self-contained" mean? It means I wear many hats, as I am responsible for molding young minds and enlightening their intellectual appetites...in ALL ACADEMIC AREAS! Yes, you heard it, all subjects ladies and gents. My students are all English Language Learners who come from a low socioeconomic background. They have these additional challenges to overcome, and they're all too ready and willing to do so!

These children come to school everyday and they give me their all! They are high spirited and always starving for more knowledge. They are very dedicated students, but sometimes I wish I had the kind of resources that would help break the monotony of our school adopted curriculum materials. In other words, they want other ways to learn and express their creativity as well!

The resources I am requesting will enable me to deliver vocabulary , reading and writing instruction in a dynamic way, which will certainly pique their interest and inspire them to be more creative in their own writing endeavors. In addition, the reader's theater kit, will provide my students (all Second Language Learners)with ample opportunities to practice reading fluently and engage them in theater curriculum as well. The reader's theater's plays will also serve as inspiration for their own writing, as they model the various writing genres we study. Finally, the drawing books will be a critical resource for them to employ visual art techniques when illustrating their final writing pieces. All of these various resources will help nourish my students' creativity and intellect as they move through the writing process.

Your donation will undoubtedly "create" a huge impact on these young minds! You will make it possible for them to tap into their ingenuity and perhaps even discover that they can one day become the artist, actor, or author they hadn't yet dreamed of becoming.
