My Project
We spend a lot of time on the floor, specifically, sitting on a rug! Providing movement and different spaces for students to learn in is so important for attention and engagement and we move from our seats to the rug multiple times throughout the day. That transition in itself can be a challenge. Our current rug doesn't have designated spots and isn't big enough to fit our whole class. Therefore, students end up sitting around the rug, at their seats, or even up against the wall just to fit into a spot.
A new rug with designated seating for each student will make it so much easier to ensure every student has a spot where they can "sit smart" and listen with their whole body.
Phonics instruction and morning meeting time will run so much more smoothly when each student can find their own spot where they are an engaged and active participant and learner. This rug is fun and has a happy spot for every student!
