My students need a projector and the pen that accompanies the projector to use on any whiteboard surface for all curriculum areas to enhance their school experience.
Every morning, I say, "You are the smartest kindergrtners in the whole city!" I want to show my students that they deserve to have the same resources as their peers in other areas of the city.
I have 27 students in kindergarten.
We are in a mid size elementary school located in Illinois. My students live in and around the neighborhood of our school. Our school is 98% African-American 1% Latino-American and 1% white. 98% of all our students receive free or reduced priced meals. My class is 99% African-American and 1% Puerto Rican-American. We are in a charter school in the inner-city.
My Project
In awesome schools across our city and state, teachers and students have access to interactive whiteboards to inspire and engage student learning. My students with different learning styles and needs would benefit from a projector that turns any whiteboard surface into an interactive whiteboard.
At our school, my students do not have access to a magnetic board let alone a smart board. An interactive whiteboard would open the door to a wealth of online resources, and activities that meet my students at their level. In order to use the projector the students would need the specialized pen to change the surface into an interactive whiteboard. My students will be able to use the projector and pen for every subject area in school. This will also allow my class to have exposure to state of the art technology.
The students who are in my class love learning.
They are excited for the possibility to be the smartest kindergrtners in the whole city. This projector and pen, that transform any whiteboard surface into an interactive whiteboard will allow my students to be on the same playing field as their peers at other schools in our city.
