This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach third grade in a Title I school. My students are at or below poverty level living in a suburb of Los Angeles, California. All of my students qualify for a free breakfast and lunch. My class consists of 10 amazing girls and 12 "ready to go" boys. They enjoy being challenged academically and physically every day. They are in the Limited English Proficiency program levels 1 and 2. My students are creative, inquisitive, hard working, and eager to learn about the world around them, as well as themselves. In our online classes my students work in a whole group during synchronous time and independently during asynchronous times.
They encourage each other to grow and explore their wonderful world of learning.
My Project
I began to plan lessons for my next school year. I learned from my colleagues who had my students in second grade that my new class has students reading at K-3rd grade level.
The Nebula projector will help me to deliver small group instruction.
I will be able to engage my students in activities that are aligned to their reading levels. I will be able to move the projector from one group to the next, without disturbing the seating arrangements. I will also be able to play videos for my social-emotional learning time.
