My Students
I teach at a dynamic school that focuses on performing arts and environmental science. My students are extremely diverse, come from all areas, socioeconomic status, and backgrounds.
My students love to learn by enjoying hands-on, active lessons and are driven by technology and reading.
They are amazing students, leaders, and individuals! Our students are leaders who follow the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. They take initiative and use the habits to shape their lives and their learning. They lead to succeed!
My Project
My students are in need of a few new books that come in a series. For many of my reluctant readers that are also struggling, they need to find that book that will really engage them and make them want to keep reading. It is important to start with some simple chapter books or start with a series that is very high interest.
Every student deserves to have that outlet where reading can take them anywhere!
My goal is to get every student reading and loving to do so! With some students who are already frustrated with reading, they lost that spark a long time ago. The idea behind using the books I've selected is that these are books in a series that are simple, short, and build interest right away. As students begin with these books, they get hooked and want to read the next one! Over time, as students complete a series they gain confidence and eventually will try many different kinds of books all while building stamina and improving their reading skills.
