This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every day I look out into a sea of eager, inquisitive faces and say, "Good Morning boys and girls." My twenty-two amazing, third graders attend a community public school and reside in a high poverty area located in Bronx, NY. In school, they are learning to have a growth mindset and to learn how to live with empathy, flexibility, resilience, persistence, and optimism.

School is their "home" and they come every day.

With the challenges they face, they enjoy reading chapter books, writing poetry and learning about science. They also love to build things and participate in art activities.

My Project

My students are returning to a new school year during a global pandemic. They will be anxious, worried and frightened as they come into a socially-distanced classroom. I would like to have on hand, masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, a touchless sanitizer dispenser, face shields, a touchless thermometer and an air purifier to protect my new third graders. An air purifier and cleaners with disinfectant will provide them with a safe and clean classroom environment in which they will thrive and learn. They have missed so much in class instruction and want to safely provide them with a classroom environment that is clean and equipped with supplies that will promote good health. Having these supplies will give my students a sense of safety and take away their anxiety off returning to the classroom during this difficult time in the world.
