Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love most about my students is their joy, resilience, and the powerful ways they connect—often without words. My kindergarten class includes many nonspeaking students, and for them, communication and regulation go hand in hand. When students can express their needs, feelings, or ask for a break, they feel more in control and are better able to stay calm and engaged.

The sensory toys, lights, seat, and noise-canceling headphones will create a calming space that supports emotional and sensory regulation, along with an iPad to allow me to model AAC, giving students consistent access to language and communication tools.

This helps them express themselves, connect with others, and reduce frustration.

With these resources, we’re building a classroom where students feel safe, understood, and ready to learn!
