My Students
Despite not having much, my students come to school with lights in their eyes and for some I know that school is the best part of their day. It's their attitude that keeps me coming back and giving it my all. I teach at a Title 1 school in a high poverty area of Florida. The majority of the students in my classroom have English as their second language. We are all working together to learn new material all the while learning English as well!
My Project
I have an awesome library collection which my students use daily. The only problem is that the floor is all tile and doesn't make for comfortable seating. With bean bag chairs and floor pillows added to this area, I can see my students stretched out comfortably and reading their favorite book.
My goal is to attract my struggling readers to the love of books!
A donation of bean bag chairs & floor pillows to our classroom library will have a lot of beneficial affects. They will add beautiful color to the drab beige tile. Students will stay longer in the library area when they have a nice, cushy place to sit and read. Students will be able to stay focused on their books and enjoy them more.
