Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Although you might imagine a teacher standing at the front of her classroom all day, much of my work occurs in small groups. I gather students around the kidney table and teach at different skill levels. During small groups, I remediate student understanding or push comprehension higher. At the teacher's table, I teach children to read, write, multiply, divide, and more.
The teacher's table is the helm of an elementary classroom, where she dives into the hard work of instruction while simultaneously steering the students seated at their desks.
Kids love to work at the teacher's table because it is where hands-on, group activities occur. With matching seats, great lighting, and a state-of-the-art table, we can get to work in style and comfort.
Having a clean, sturdy kidney table will be a game-changer in my brand-new classroom. For years, I have used a wobbly old table. Its bumpy surface makes it hard for students to write with a pencil. The legs give out or shake when students press too hard. For once, I would love to use a pretty, clean, and sturdy table to teach small groups.
