What topics did you want to read about in 4th grade? If you answered with the topics rocks and animals you sound like my class! Help us have more books to explore than just our black and white copied science text booklets.
My 4th grade class is part of charter school in Utah.
We are Title One school with over 40% of our students on free or reduced price lunch. This means that most of my students have their only access to books while they are at school. So we strive to make the most options available. With our school school community's hard work we are able to reach our learning goals and continually achieve high test scores as well. We continue to seek the supplies to supplement our hard work and vision in helping our students grow.
My Project
Children love to collect rocks and examine them. They also love animals and learning all they can about them. The selection of books I have chosen will allow my students to explore these topics they love even more. These are books that will be for individual students to read on their own so they can dive in at their own pace and enjoy the pictures, and facts that interest them. Rocks and animals are also a part of the Utah State Core. So these books will also assist them in having a deeper understanding of these science topics. At this time there is also a push to have students read more non-fiction books on their own. These simple books will start a library of simple, interesting non-fiction books which will wet my students appetites for non-fiction reading just as much as fiction reading.
Your donation will allow these children to adventure further in their scientific minds!
Science is such an important subject in education. Understanding how things work helps us figure out how to fix them. I like to think I am educating the doctors and scientists of tomorrow.
