Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Las Comadres is a student-led club that creates a safe, welcoming space for students of all backgrounds to build cross-cultural friendships, celebrate their identities, and support one another through shared experiences. In a school where many students are navigating life as first-generation Americans or coming from immigrant households, this space is a lifeline.
This project will help us stock our room with games, snacks, writing supplies, and creative resources that make our meetings feel like home.
Whether we’re playing a game to relax, journaling about our experiences, or simply sharing a snack and a laugh after school, these small comforts create the foundation for something powerful—a community where students feel safe, seen, and supported.
