I teach Science to Grades 2-5 in Brooklyn, NY. I work in Fort Greene, which is a beloved Brooklyn neighborhood that's diverse and accessible. A neighborhood that’s both community-driven and culturally relevant. Each student brings his or her own diverse background and experiences to the classroom. But the one thing they all have in common is their passion to learn. I try to utilize many different learning techniques and strategies to best reach all the students.
My students have different social/emotional issues but they are creative and curious.
They are always willing to learn new things. My school is committed to the education of their students.
Due to my student's varying levels of abilities, I want to allow them to engage and relate to various science curriculums while keeping in mind their social/emotional learning.
My Project
We currently have a rabbit in our classroom named Clover. The students absolutely love her and when one of our kids is having a bad day, they can come into the classroom and give Clover a hug and a snuggle. Their entire mood changes. The students at my school really need this interaction with Clover.
Our rabbit, Clover, has outgrown her cage.
We got her when she was a baby and she has more than doubled in size since she joined our classroom. I am hoping that we can receive funding for a new, larger cage for her. I am also asking for a playpen so she has room to interact with the kids safely.
