This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have been teaching Kindergarten for 4 years! My first year was during the COVID pandemic and did most of it online/hybrid so I didn’t need much furniture. I’ve been struggling to keep things organized in my classroom due to lack of furniture, and organizational tools such as storage bins, and rolling carts, etc. I believe it’s important to keep things organized and have a place for certain things in order for your class to run smoothly.
Based on my experience, organization has caused unnecessary confusion on students and subs when there isn’t a place for things.
I do have a place for things in my classroom, however, it’s not displayed for the kids to grab whenever they need it or it’s inconsistent and they have to ask for it. Example; counting blocks, early finishers tasks, etc. I’d like to have my classroom set up to set them up for success as they become independent individuals.
With your help, I can set up my classroom for success and help guide students to become independent and have less need of a teacher to tell them or give them the appropriate tools everyday; instead, there is a place for them and they will know where to go. I believe this is very important to have especially in Kindergarten to set them up for their incoming school years.
