Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are diverse! They all come from different backgrounds and have different learning styles. They even speak different languages at home. They all are unique and interpret things differently, but my classroom embraces these differences. I work in a Title I school with a large ESOL population, which creates issues for our students and their families to understand and access the curriculum. Despite these issues, these scholars are willing to put in the work! They embrace their differences and it allows them to collaborate and be creative in their learning.

Each day these students come to school in anticipation of creating, learning, and imagining the possibilities My students are outside the box thinkers and as a result, enjoy lots of movement in the classroom and space to work independently as needed.

They are highly motivated and energetic thinkers. My students love activities that are hands-on and involve technology. We place a strong emphasis on developing 21st-century learners. In our classroom, we are constantly evolving to embrace our diverse scholars. I truly enjoy seeing what their amazing minds can create on each day.

My Project

Students spend much of their day in classrooms. Like home environments, children need conducive classroom environments. With the purchase of a new classroom rug, my students would have a cozy comfortable place to sit to work alone or with their peers. The rug will also add a splash or color to make our room more colorful and inviting. The storage unit will allow them access to their materials and supplies while keeping them neat and organized. Moreover, the presentation cart will help to save valuable classroom space and allow me the flexibility to move around as I teach to keep my students engaged.

Classroom physical environment affects morale and student learning.

It provides the opportunity for students to help create an inviting environment that supports positive interaction. And it empowers students in the process. Since my students spend a good part of their days they should feel more like a warm home.
