My students need a large classroom rug with enough space for everyone.

My Students
Every morning I greet my students at the door with a smile and a hug. After my students eat breakfast in the classroom we begin our morning meeting. This gives all of us an opportunity to greet each other, share how we are feeling, work on community building, and preview the day ahead.
My students love getting to know each other and working together.
I am in a very unique situation this upcoming year (2016-2017) because I am looping to 4th grade with these students and will get to teach the exact same class again. I am so excited to teach this fantastic bunch again next year! My students are caring, smart, and so eager to learn and grow. Our school is a Title 1 school with most families living below the poverty line. Although most families can not contribute financially to our class, they are very invested in their students' future and success in my classroom. Every student at my school (and in my school district) receives free breakfast and lunch every single day.
My Project
The rug I am requesting will serve two main purposes: a place to meet for morning meeting and a space for students to work in partners or individually during center rotations.
Morning meeting is one of my students' favorite times of the day. Each morning before we dive into instruction we are able to start the day together. My students come from many different backgrounds, including eight different countries, which provides a great opportunity for us to learn from each other and how to respect each other's differences. We need a large classroom rug to hold morning meeting on each day with enough space for each student. During our morning meeting we greet one another, share how we are feeling that day, do community building activities, and preview our schedule for the day.
Our classroom rug will also serve as a space for students to work collaboratively or individually during math and literacy rotations. The rug will be a comfortable and contained space to learn.
Since implementing morning meeting with fidelity in my classroom I have noticed positive change.
My students feel more comfortable at school, show more respect for their peers, and have a stronger sense of community. If we are gifted the rug we will have a designated space for our morning meeting, plus enough space for each individual student to sit or stand. This will replace a small, old rug that we currently have. With the new rug everyone will feel included and welcomed.
