Help spruce up our 100-year old classroom with a brand new rug! The rug we currently have is ripped and frayed.
My students are the youngest learners at a public elementary school in a high-need neighborhood in New York.
At three and four years old they are curious and eager to learn given the opportunity. As this is their first experience at school they need a warm and inviting classroom, so they will feel comfortable.
My Project
I am requesting a new rug for our meeting area of our classroom. Our current rug is very worn, frayed, and dirty. Our new rug will give my students an inviting place to have our lessons and discussions. It is essential that three and four year olds have an inviting environment, so they can be comfortable and begin to love school and learning. They also need a structured environment. The rug includes squares, so each student will have his/her own space during learning time, allowing them to focus and get involved with the lesson without distractions from other students. The new rug will also have letters with pictures to help children learn their alphabet and sounds and build their vocabulary. We will play letter hunt games on our new rug, making learning fun for my students.
With a new rug my students will have an inviting place to have their first school experience where they can begin to become lifelong lovers of learning.
