A Rug to Build Our Classroom Community

Help me give my students a classroom rug that would give us a designated space to gather as a community, learn important social-emotional skills, and start each day feeling seen, safe, and supported.

My Project

Every day in our classroom begins with a special time, Morning Meeting. This is when we come together as a class family to greet one another, build relationships, sing songs, share stories, and prepare for the day ahead. It sets the tone for a kind, caring, and connected learning environment.

Right now, we don’t have a large rug where all of my TK students can comfortably sit together.

A classroom rug would give us a designated space to gather as a community, learn important social-emotional skills, and start each day feeling seen, safe, and supported.

This rug will not only be used during Morning Meetings, but also for read-alouds, music and movement, and whole-group instruction. It will be the heart of our classroom where we grow as learners and friends.

Transitional Kindergarten is a time when children are learning how to be part of a classroom community for the first time. Having a consistent, welcoming space to gather helps create a sense of belonging and security. With your support, this rug will help my students start each day with joy and connection.
