A Rug for Collaboration!

Help me give my students a classroom rug for comfort and to encourage collaboration.

My Students

I work in a Title I school with some of the most amazing, creative, and hard-working students. More than 60% of my students come from a lower socioeconomic home. Many of my students are ESL, and many more qualify for special education.

I have the best students, and I want to give them the best!

Because of the daily obstacles my students face, some of them find education very challenging. Many come to school without their basic needs being met, so it is hard for them to focus on math, science, or reading. I try to think outside of the box so that my kids are engaged and want to learn.

My Project

In our class, students have a choice of what seating helps them learn the most. Even though we have a variety of seating objects, some students love to just sit on the floor while doing their schoolwork. The rug will make it much more comfortable for those who choose that seating option.

The rug will also encourage collaboration.

Our class participates in a lot of group work. It's much easier to participate, as a group, when the kids are sitting on the floor in a circle. In addition, the rug will make it much easier when bringing the whole class together for read-aloud and Social Emotional Learning lessons. Our class will be so appreciative with your support in this project.
