This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This rug will provide some extra cushion from our current carpet. We spend much time doing sensory input on the floor; our morning meeting is on the floor, we do whole group instruction and students play. The alphabet is loved by many in my class, so it engages them and creates defined seating spaces my students can easily see. The visuals on each letter will help my students with letter sounds and names. As beginner readers and as students with disabilities, having visuals that are easy to see and recognize is extremely important for their success.
A classroom rug is an important learning space in the classroom.
The classroom rug is really the center of the classroom. Most of our learning takes place on the classroom rug. This new rug will be bright and inviting.
