Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a huge believer that all students need exposure to technology. Unfortunately, too many students from families with low incomes experience less technology than their wealthier peers. Knowing this, I try to use technology as much as possible. Imagine my surprise when my Assistant Principal announced she had brand new computers for our classrooms. We had just gotten one last year! I had found some fabulous websites! I was delighted to have twice as many students on-line! Except I can't! We need a router. I learned this from a very able sales person at Staples. I am requesting a router to use in my classroom to connect both my wonderful computers. Twice as many students will be able to go on-line. While on-line, students have been able to use interactive learning sites. We have also used the world wide web to research for our non-fiction writing. Not to mention all the times students have helped me look up words when I get stuck during shared writing. The Internet is a resource that I love to have students use. Many have come back to class bragging about how they use the computers at the library just like they learned in the classroom! I would love to double this experience.
