it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students having busy schedules spending time in both their general ed rooms and special ed classrooms! Some of them come for reading, writing, or math intervention, but the majority come for all three! There are a handful of students who need extra support in learning how to be a successful learner across the school campus. They love to learn and work towards their goals each and every day. Sometimes learning is difficult for our students who have come from adverse and challenging backgrounds, so providing a calm area where they can prepare for the school-day or calm down and de-escalate will make their classroom a more successful learning place for the student, their classmates, and their teachers. We are working towards creating a trauma-informed and sensitive setting for our students who have behavior and social-emotional needs.
My Project
My students are juggling a busy schedule and come to school often with heavy hearts. It takes time for them to ready their minds and prepare for a full day of learning. Students come to my room for Reading, Writing, and Math, but also often to decompress and regulate their emotions. Our campus serves a variety of students and each child is supported based on their individual needs. With these flexible seating options, social-emotional supports, and new craft supplies, my students will have exactly what they need to be the most successful they can be. My students have always been resilient, but this past school year they amazed me with their flexibility and willingness to take on the challenges of remote learning. I want to give them a new and exciting space now that they are back on campus and ready to make new memories this school year!
