A Real Life Mystery: Lost Books!

My students need mystery books to complete sets of Cam Jansen, Young Cam Jansen, and Nate the Great that are used for book clubs during the mystery unit in Reading Workshop.

My Students

Reading Workshop is a pivotal part of our school day. My students read their independent 'just right' books to cultivate their reading lives. They absolutely love to read! In fact, many find it difficult to put their book down as they walk down the hallways.

My classroom has a range of readers from J-P with their own taste in literature and favorite authors.

Their genuine love for reading can be attributed to the strong literacy culture at our school. Students become independent learners through choice reading and writing workshop

My Project

The mystery unit is an all-time favorite reading unit for third graders! The unit requires students to be in book clubs of four students, and it is very important to provide each book club with a text that is of interest to every student. As a group, students will work together to deepen their understanding of a mystery series. We need multiple copies of lots of series mystery books, including Cam Jansen, Capital Mysteries, Meg Mackintosh and more in order to do this work. Over the years, books have become missing and the sets of mystery books are now incomplete. With a replenished collection of mystery books, my students will be well-prepared for this fun-filled unit.

In order to provide students with an unforgettable reading experience is to give them a CHOICE to select a a "just right" book that truly interests them. My vision is to replenish my current collection of mystery books so that it will make putting a quality book in the hands of my insatiable readers possible!
