This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My name is Katie Healy, and I am a first-grade teacher. I am reaching out to ask for your support in creating a vibrant and engaging classroom library for our young learners.

Reading is a fundamental skill that opens doors to new worlds, sparks imagination, and builds essential literacy skills.

Unfortunately, our current classroom library is limited, and I would love to enrich our library with a specific reading area to spark our students’ interests and improve reading levels. The cushions and carpet would provide a cozy spot for students to practice their reading skills while the bins can be organized by genre, such as fiction, biography, mystery, and more.

Your generous donation will go directly towards enhancing our library and ensuring that each child has access to wonderful and age-appropriate reading materials. This library will provide a safe and creative space for students to explore different genres and leveled texts to spark their reading interest and curiosity.
