This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 7th-grade students live in Salinas, CA, and attend school at a Title One program, which means this school is a basic aid, the socioeconomic poverty line is the demographic of this area.
50% of my students read more than 3 levels below grade level.
I need to inspire them in all ways possible that reading is more fun than TikTok. Please help me provide an environment in the classroom that invites students to grab a choice novel off my bookshelf to sit down and read! By creating this cozy experience for my students, they will feel special, getting lost in a book/world of their own. Reading is the gateway to a successful future. Help provide this for children in need. THANK YOU!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
