My Students
I teach language arts to 116 children, who have been identified as gifted and talented. They are in grades 1-5 and come from 3 elementary schools. My students have a wide range of interests, talents, and vary greatly in their learning styles. I have students who excel in writing scripts and stories that make you overwhelmed with emotion, who come alive acting out plays, who create elaborate costumes of the Indiana bat from construction paper and string, who film and produce movies that leave me awestruck.
My students value the opportunity to learn new ways to learn.
They love to read, research, question, and create. Many of my students are kinesthetic learners and learn more effectively via movement.
My Project
As a Language Arts teacher, we spend the majority of our time reading and writing. For students who learn through movement, that can be a challenge. With the Gaiam Balance Ball chair, Kore Wobble chair and stackable stools, students will be able to choose a seating area where they can be appropriately active and develop
a deeper love for reading.
The flexible seating options will also positively affect their ability to meet their academic goals since they will want to read and write longer in a comfortable seating area. Oh the places we'll go, via reading and writing with your help!
