This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever felt you could do something if only you had the right tools? This is a challenge my students face daily. The desire is there, yet the tools are missing. While the students try their best to succeed at reading, they are at a loss when it comes to finding the books they'd like to read.

My students are an extremely curious group of enthusiastic learners, despite the challenges they face.

They are anxious to learn by reading stories and letting their imaginations run wild. Our current library is welcome, but falls short of its purpose - to attract and inspire reading. We're a third-grade class in a low-income, Title 1 school, yet that does not stop us from working hard to achieve the goals we set for ourselves.

My Project

I want to fill my classroom with a library of Dr. Seuss books that will help my students understand poetry, escape their troubles, and smile and laugh -- as all children should. The wide variety of books in this series will allow me to conduct an author study and expose students to different books by the same author, as well as provide them with the opportunity to independently enjoy these books. All of these titles are essential in my eyes, first and foremost because they have come at the request of my students. They ultimately know what they will learn from, and more important, what they will enjoy.

Helping my students is well worth the investment!

By bringing new literature into our classroom you will spark a light in the minds of every young learner in my class. I know that each time the students read a book, it will take them on an adventure only a child could experience. My students and I are looking forward to our journey towards becoming independent readers and thinkers. We thank you in advance for you generosity.
