Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are an enthusiastic class of learners with a passion for reading and a love for technology. They are full of questions and absolutely love participating in class discussions.
Although they are enrolled in a Title I school and more than half are English Language Learners coming from foreign countries, they are resilient in their effort to overcome obstacles that stand in their way.
It's as if they are aware of their potential and fully understand their responsibility to fulfill it.
My Project
Have you ever felt you could do something if only you had the right tools? This is a challenge my students face daily. The desire is there, yet the tools are missing. While my students try their best to succeed at reading, they are at a loss when it comes to finding the information that they desire to learn about.
Each and every one of my students is unique in their own way, yet they all share one common trait- a love of reading.
My third graders attend a public school in a low-income community. Despite this challenge, they come to school each and every day motivated with an insatiable desire to learn, inspired to question, and unbridled in their efforts to explore the world around them.
A subscription to Scholastic magazines would allow my students to explore the world in an engaging and accessible way. These magazines would provide my students with access to current events and informational topics. Subscriptions to Science Spin and Geography Spin would equip them with the knowledge they need to push their thinking forward and embrace the beauty of the world around them.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
