Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a school of students from Pre-k to 5th grade.
My amazing students are energetic and come from many countries from all over the world.
Many of the parents in our school do not speak English, and these children are first-generation Americans. Despite obstacles, our students show up online ready to learn and energetic. We have a wonderful and respectful classroom environment. There are many diverse learners in the classroom. These students are amazing and have persevered through this difficult time.
My Project
Have you scrolled down Facebook lately and said “that’s fake news? Or "That's not real?" Well, Scholastic News will do just the opposite of that for our students. A Scholastic News Subscription will open a whole grade of students (across 3 classes) to the possibility of thinking outside the box about real world issues!
Many of these students do not have the economical means to experience the world first hand.
It is our job, as teachers, to bring the world to them! Scholastic News will bring the world to these children and through more exploration of the articles, these students will experience hands on activities to acclimate themselves with the world!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
