Help me give my students a beautiful table for guided reading and small group work. Our current table is very small and pencils and dry ease makers roll of the table due to a leg that is broken.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are in need of a Guided Reading Table that will fit at least 5 students comfortable. This table will be used to help students to read with the teacher in a small group and to work on skills such as reading with fluency, expression and learning phonics. Small group time helps students to zone in on skills with the teacher, meet learning goals and to review data according to their levels.
The current table we have is a small rectangular table that has a broken leg that does not sit evenly on the floor.
Students' dry ease markers and pencils all roll off the table during guided reading. The table is small for 2nd grade and only 3 students can sit comfortable.
I need to pull 4 to 5 students at a time to meet with me for guided reading and small group work and the sitting is tight. Each small group last for 15 to 20 minute rotations. I would love to provide my students with enough space for themselves, books, dry ease boards and markers without placing their learning tools on the floor under the chairs. The table would provide students a place for learning and gaining much needed reading skills to prepare them for 2nd grade.
