My Students
My next project's objectives are for my students to learn about basic figure drawing and color contrast. They will cut out a figure shape and dress it up in a Halloween costume of their choice gluing colorful pieces of construction paper.
I teach at a beautiful school in North Miami Beach.
It is a title I school located in a pleasant neighborhood. Over 90% of the student population is considered high risk.
Many of my students do not have the resources at home to experiment with art-like materials. Their parents are hard working families who mostly are first generation immigrants.
Many of them are very talented as they are fascinated with the visual arts and the world it opens for them.
My Project
Construction papers are an essential part of making art at the elementary level. That's why it is imperative to get these items for my students. I need all the vibrant colors I can get to teach them how to use their creativity and imagination. Studies have proved that when academics are paired with the arts children perform better and stay in school.
I have had challenges in providing my students with the necessary art materials.
School budgets seem tighter with each passing year. Yet my students' needs do not change and in order for my art curriculum to be properly executed I need basic art materials such as construction paper. It is amazing to see what the kids can create with only a few sheets of colored paper. Please help me give to my students the gift of meaningful art experiences.
