Help me give my students color art materials as it sparks creativity, nurtures appreciation for different forms of expression, and cultivates a deeper understanding of cultural diversity through visual communication.
Color attracts a learner's attention and helps create a sense of wonder. Colors are some of the earliest words children learn and a means they can use for communicating. I don't know how often I have heard parents refer to grocery items in their baskets using the names of colors. It's important to incorporate color words into the daily activities of students. Children remember color better than verbal cues. Combining art curriculum and content with colorful visuals improves student memorization.
In art class, learners will soon discuss Klee, Hokusai, Van Gogh, Monet, and Alma Woodsey Thomas as they consider impressionist paint strokes, color relationships, ideas of abstraction, and how to be inspired by an artist while making personal style choices.
These artists use color differently however all create with oodles of color and students will consider their intentions as young artists create using these artist's ideas and a plethora of color.
