My students need a rug, bean bag chairs and book bins to create a quiet reading or study area in the classroom.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am lucky to work in a school where I teach over 500 students who are extremely diverse and simply amazing. About 80% of our students fall below the poverty line and face a number of challenges at home and at school. We also have students who are new to the country and come from all over the world.
These students overcome obstacles with great motivation and a positive attitude.
They impress the teachers each day as they walk into school smiling and happy. They are loving, kind and appreciative. I want to provide these kids with the best opportunities; they truly deserve it.
My Project
I would love to create a quiet space within my classroom. Bean bag chairs, a new rug and various books in bins will help to create this much-needed area. The art room is generally a fun, messy and noisy class that fosters creativity, but this can also be over stimulating for some of my students. An area with comfortable chairs will mean so much to them.
I would love a space for students to think, read and reflect when they finish their work or just need some quiet time.
I can see my students sitting in those chairs reading about their favorite artist or playing some of their favorite art games. This would be an awesome addition to our classroom!
