A Project that Pulls Them in Like a Magnet

Help me give my students magnets of different sizes, so they can realize the strength of the magnet is not related to the size, that other factors determine the strength.

My Project

5th grade is really when science becomes much more hands-on. The study of magnets is something that students will explore over the next few years.

With these different-sized magnets, students will be able to describe that there is an invisible magnetic field that surrounds a magnet that is strongest at its poles and determine that the strength of the magnet is not related to its size.

This lesson will provide 5th graders with a basic knowledge that will prepare them for lessons to come in future grades. Using quality materials like these will inspire my students to work together and help them develop real scientific thinking.
